MEME-A-ZINE: POC Meme Making Workshop

Can’t get enough of yt ppl memes? Addicted to decolonial meme accounts? Join meme queens from Migrant Zine Collective and White_mess for a collaboration workshop dedicated to MEME-ING.

This free workshop will consist of a brief talk on the radical history behind zine-making, followed by an hour of creating your own personalised meme zine with conversations surrounding racism, decolonisation and diasporic experiences in Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Migrant Zine Collective is an Auckland-based art collective aiming to amplify, celebrate and share the voices of migrants-of-colour. The was idea kickstarted in early 2017 upon the release of GEN M, short for “Generation Migrant” – a zine collated and published by Helen Yeung in the hopes of celebrating her own Hong Kong-Chinese diasporic background along with the voices of migrants in the community.
